Results of Adenoids and adenoidectomy

After an adenoidectomy the child will be able to breathe through the nose more easily and will have fewer sore throats and ear infections.

Some studies have shown that removing the adenoids may sometimes lead to the child having fewer coughs and colds, although the reason for this is not known.

Very occasionally the adenoid tissue can grow back.  This is very rare and is not a problem unless it becomes swollen again.
