Who can use it? of Antacid drugs
Pregnant women, or women who are breastfeeding, should avoid high doses of antacids and should steer clear of products containing aluminium, which could be harmful to the nervous system and may cause the baby to experience development problems. Pregnant women are advised to check with their GP or midwife before taking any medications.
Children should not take antacids, unless directed to by a doctor.
People with kidney problems or those who have been dehydrated should not take antacids that contain aluminium or magnesium. Some studies suggest that aluminium may also worsen the effects of Alzheimer’s disease.
