Diagnosis of Aspergillosis
Diagnostic tests include:
- sputum sample to test whether spores are present,
- blood test for the presence of blood proteins antibodies) that counteract aspergillus,
- x-ray to check for any lung abnormalities,
- computerised tomography scan (CT scan),
- skin test to check for allergic reaction,
- and where invasive aspergillosis is suspected; tissue sample (biopsy),
- or examination of the inside of the lungs (brochoscopy).
