Astigmatism is a treatable eye condition that can cause blurred vision and headaches. It happens when the front surface of the eye is uneven so images in the eye are blurred or out of focus.
Most people with astigmatism are born with the condition although it can develop throughout life. Usually, a person with astigmatism will have other visual problems such as short or long sightedness.
Astigmatism is extremely common, and affects most people to a degree, although many do not need corrective action. Treatments include corrective lenses and surgery.
