Why is it necessary? of Blood transfusion

Blood transfusion is a vital part of modern medicine. It is necessary:

  • To replace acute blood loss following an injury or in the course of a surgical operation
  • To treat severe anaemia, for instance when individuals cannot make blood for themselves

The loss of a large amount of blood brings on a very dangerous condition called surgical shock. Shock is commonly caused by severe blood loss through bleeding, but it is also caused by loss of the fluid volume of the bloodstream in other ways. Blood transfusion is the routine way to prevent surgical shock from happening.
