Complications of Bone cyst

The most common complication caused by a bone cyst is a fracture. However, because bone cysts can grow (active cysts), particularly in children whose bones are still growing, it is possible for the cyst to cause some damage to the bone. Cysts tend to become inactive after bones have stopped growing.

Although treatments are usually effective, bone cysts can return. This is more likely to happen if you’ve had an active cyst (50% return) but less likely if you’ve had an inactive cyst (10% return).
