Cautions of Bottle feeding

Bottle feeding your baby with formula milk doesn’t offer the same health benefits as breastfeeding.  Studies have shown that bottle feeding increases the risk of your baby developing infections, and doesn’t offer you the same protection against brittle bones in later life, or against certain types of cancer.  Breastfeeding is free, convenient, and tailor-made to suit your baby’s nutritional needs.  The World Health Organisation and the Department of Health recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months.

It is important that you do not give your baby cows’ milk as a main milk until s/he is at least one year old, because s/he would not be able to digest the extra protein and salt that it contains.
