Diagnosis of Cancer of the brain

A variety of tests can be used to detect the presence of brain cancer. These can include a computerised tomography scan (CT scan) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI scan) as well as examination of the optic nerve. The doctor does this by looking into the patient's eye using an ophthalmoscope. This helps to detect any swelling around the optic nerve (papilloedema).
