Prevention of Cancer of the vulva

Safe sex is the best way to protect yourself against HPV. Regular cervical smear tests are also important in detecting sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and pre-cancerous cell-change early on.

You can decrease your chance of getting vulval cancer by not smoking. Smokers are less able to get rid of the HPV infection from the body, which can develop into cancer. The harmful substances in tobacco may also damage cells in the vulva and increase your risk of cancer.
