What is it used for? of Chiropractic
The majority of chiropractic work is related to back and neck problems, and treatment is usually more effective for short-term (acute) problems than for longer-term (chronic) conditions.
Chiropractors treat a variety of problems, most of which work because the problem is caused directly by a misalignment of the bones and joints, and trapped nerves. These include:
- Back pain
- Neck pain
- Slipped disk in the back
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Fibromyalgia
- Migraine
Chiropractic treatment can also help to relieve other conditions, by sorting out problems in the spine and other parts of the body and making the nervous system work more effectively. These include:
- Period pain
- Asthma (using manipulation of the chest, primarily)
- Bedwetting
- Sleep disorders
The initial visit to a chiropractor is usually triggered by a particular problem such as back pain, but regular chiropractic treatment can also be used to maintain general health, in the same way that dentists perform regular check-ups.
