Prevention of Congestive heart failure
Steps can be taken to prevent congestive heart failure or slow its progression.
Positive lifestyle changes include:
- Eating less salt (this is very important) as too much salt will stop your mediation working,
- Taking regular, light exercise,
- Losing weight if you are overweight,
- Having a healthy balanced diet that is high in fibre and low in fat,
- Regularly checking your blood pressure,
- Reducing your stress levels,
- Giving up smoking,
- Drinking less alcohol,
- Resting and sleeping more, and
- Having a flu jab every year.
