Decongestant drugs
Decongestant drugs stimulate the body’s natural responses that occur as part of the involuntary nervous system. They help to reduce the swelling in the blood vessels that supply the mucous membrane.
They can be taken either of two ways; by mouth (oral preparation), or as a nasal spray applied directly into the nose (topical preparation). Decongestants taken by mouth may take a little longer to work, but their effect can last longer.
