Complications of Dental abscess

In some cases if the infection is not controlled it may cause swelling of the face and neck and the infection may spread to other parts of the body. Antibiotics are necessary to control this spread of infection.

Other complications can include osteomyelitis (infection of the bones) and cavernous sinus thrombosis (swelling and blood clots in the veins behind the eyes).
