Diagnosis of Dyspraxia

Initially a parent should talk to their GP, a referral should then be made to a paediatrician . Assessment can then be made by a psychologist, physiotherapist, speech therapist and occupational therapist as is deemed appropriate.

Developmental dyspraxia received very little recognition until the 1990's.Therefore adults will not have been diagnosed as a child. If an adult suspects they have dyspraxia they should ask the GP to refer them to a neurologist or clinical psychologist for assessment.
