How is it performed? of Ear reshaping
The otoplasty operation can be performed under local anesthetic, but young children may find it less distressing to have the operation while under general anesthetic. The surgery usually takes two to three hours to complete. Most patients will not need to stay in hospital overnight.
Different surgery techniques may be used, depending on the required result and the specific problem. One of the most common techniques is when the surgeon makes a small cut in the back of the ear in order to remove some of the cartilage and bend it back towards the head. Stitches are then used to keep the shape.
