Recovery of Ear reshaping

A protective bandage may be wrapped around the head after surgery to protect the area. It may be wise to keep this bandage on whilst sleeping for a few days. A small protective dressing is usually worn for around five to ten days after the operation, or until the stitches are removed.

It may be necessary to take some mild painkillers during the first couple of weeks after the procedure, as the ears may be slightly sore and tender. Your doctor may prescribe paracetamol or codeine for example, if you are in some discomfort. The ears may also feel a little numb for a few weeks after surgery.

Once the stitches and dressing have been removed, it is important to keep the area clean to prevent infection occurring.
