Symptoms of Ectropion
Ectropion carries the tear duct opening away from the tear film, so that the normal drainage of tears into the nose is prevented. The result is a permanently watering eye.
In addition, because bacteria are not carried safely away, ectropion usually leads to a state of permanent low-grade infection (chronic conjunctivitis) with persistent redness, discharge and discomfort.
The constant necessity to wipe the eye only makes matters worse.
