Complications of Fungal nail infection

If fungal nail infections are not treated, they can spread to other toenails, or to your fingernails. They can damage your nail and make walking painful. In the case of infected fingernails, they can make it difficult to carry out certain tasks such as writing.

In the elderly, fungal nail infections very occasionally lead to complications such as cellulitus (inflammation of the skin). In people with diabetes or conditions affecting the blood vessels, serious fungal infections that go untreated might affect the working of the whole arm or leg.
