Results of Gastrectomy
Results are generally good, but there is always the risk that the ulcer will recur. Up to eight per cent of patients may get another ulcer within five years, and as many as 30 per cent within 15 years. Much depends on lifestyle. Smoking cigarettes is likely to increase the risk.
