Diagnosis of Glandular fever

Symptoms such as sore throat, swollen lymph nodes and tiredness will often point your GP to a diagnosis of glandular fever, although sometimes it is initially misdiagnosed as tonsillitis.

A throat swab (a sample of cells from the back of your throat) and a blood test for antibodies against the Epstein-Barr virus can be used to confirm the diagnosis.
