Prevention of Glaucoma

Regular eye check ups are very important to detect glaucoma early on. This is particularly important if you are over 40, or have a family history of glaucoma. The National Health Service offer free eye tests to everyone aged 60 and over, and for people with a close blood relative with glaucoma from the age of 40.

When you book your appointment, ask for the optician to carry out all three glaucoma tests, as they are not always performed as standard. It is also important to tell the optician if glaucoma is in your family.
