Complications of Gum disease

If gum disease remains untreated the teeth may eventually become loose and even fall out. More teeth are lost through gum disease than dental decay.

If the pocket around the tooth becomes blocked a build up of pus may cause a gum abscess to form. This will need treating by your dentist with antibiotics followed by thorough scaling and polishing to clean out the gum pocket.
