Diagnosis of Headache
Tension-type and cluster headaches are often self-diagnosed. Investigation by a GP is usually unnecessary as there is no specific diagnostic test for a tension-type headache.
If you have any related symptoms such as blurred vision, vomiting, drowsiness etc. you should see your GP so that further examinations and investigations can be carried out. Keeping a headache diary may help to identify the type of headache.
