Symptoms of Hyperglycaemia
Symptoms of hyperglycaemia are the same as those of untreated diabetes. They do not appear suddenly, but over a period of time:
- thirst,
- frequent urination, and
- tiredness.
If symptoms are prolonged they can cause weight loss and blurred vision.
In the long term, hyperglycaemia can increase the likelihood of complications of diabetes, such as damage to the kidneys, eyes and nerves of the feet, heart disease, circulation problems in the legs, and erectile problems.
