How is it performed? of Inquest

The coroner sits alone, unless the coroner suspects murder or manslaughter or that the death was caused by a road accident, then a jury is called. A coroner's inquest does not apportion blame on any individual.

During an inquest, the coroner can call upon all witnesses who have relevant information concerning the inquiry.The inquest involves enquiring into how the death occurred. Proceedings at an inquest are inquisitorial, rather than adversarial.
