Causes of Kyphosis
Kyphosis is due to downward loading on the spine so that the normal curves are exaggerated. This will happen only if there is inadequate support, from poor muscles, faulty posture or softening or fracture of the bones. It therefore tends to occur in two groups – as a congenital (present at birth) disfigurement that gets worse, and in post-menopausal women as a result of osteoporosis.
