Complications of Labyrinthitis

Most people who have labyrinthitis find that their hearing and balance returns to normal. However, some people will find that they have some mild dizziness when they move their head for several years following the infection.

Complications from labyrinthitis are uncommon, but can include permanent hearing loss, permanent tinnitus (ringing or hissing noise in your ears), or permanent loss of balance. This is more likely if you have had bacterial labyrinthitis than if you have had viral labyrinthitis.
