Complications of Lazy eye
If lazy eye is not treated at an early age, central vision may not develop (equal sight in both eyes). This will affect daily activities like reading and writing and may prevent someone from being able to drive a car or use a computer.
Sometimes, lazy eye can result in a noticeable squint.
In some cases, if a child under two is treated for amblyopia with a patch they may develop the condition in the other eye. This is because the ‘good’ eye that is covered with the patch becomes ‘lazy’. For this reason, the ophthalmologist has to carefully monitor the treatment.
