Symptoms of Lupus

There are many symptoms of SLE. Rarely do two people have the same symptoms, the most common ones include:

  • Joint aches and pains, swollen joints,
  • Headaches, migraine or seizures,
  • A permanent red, butterfly-shaped rash on the nose and cheeks. The skin may have an increased sensitivity to sunlight, causing skin rashes,
  • Kidney problems,
  • Fatigue and weakness,
  • Mouth ulcers,
  • Hair loss,
  • Anxiety and depression,
  • Fevers and night sweats,
  • Inflammation of the membranes covering internal organs, with associated chest and abdominal pain and shortness of breath,
  • Anaemia, and 
  • Neurological disorders, caused by inflammation of the brain.
