Symptoms of Marfan syndrome

This syndrome affects people with varying degrees of severity:

  • The eyes: symptoms include partial dislocation of the lens of the eye, myopia and glaucoma.
  • Bones and Joints: symptoms include abnormally long and thin limbs and digits, curvature of the spine, chest wall deformity and weak joints and ligaments.
  • The most serious of symptoms affecting the heart is the enlargement of the aorta.  The aorta is the main vessel supplying blood to the body, and in Marfan syndrome it can be prone to tearing.
