Most ulcers heal on their own. However, if the ulcer doesnâ€™t heal within three weeks you should visit your dentist. Your dentist will be able to examine your mouth to check that the problem is an ulcer and not something more serious.

If you suffer from ulcers that come and go frequently, you should visit your dentist to check that there is not an underlying medical cause.
