Prevention of Neurofibromatosis
The only way of preventing neurofibromatosis is by pre-pregnancy genetic counselling for couples where there is a family history of the problem.
Termination of pregnancy (abortion) is an option if genetic tests show that a fetus is affected. However, this is likely to be a difficult and very personal decision and usually counselling from a suitably qualified person should be available.
