Nonspecific urethritis

This term used to describe discomfort and discharge from the male urethra (urine outlet tube) for which no cause could  be found. However, it is now known that the majority of cases are caused by chlamydia, a bacterium. This can cause serious problems, especially in women. These include:

  • ectopic pregnancies,
  • infertility, and
  • chronic infection of the womb.
