Treatment of Otitis externa

Otitis externa may be persistent (chronic) and difficult to treat, and the treatment varies depending on the cause. Thorough cleaning of the canal and specific antibiotic or antifungal treatment are often necessary. Solutions of various drugs may be applied locally on gauze ‘wicks’.
