Pancreatitis
Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas. This is an important gland lying below and behind your stomach. It has two functions: it produces digestive enzymes, which it secretes into the small intestine; and it produces the hormones insulin and glucagon, which it secretes into the blood. These hormones control your blood-sugar levels.
Pancreatitis may be a sharp, short illness (acute pancreatitis) or a persistent disorder (chronic pancreatitis).
