Symptoms of Pneumococcal infections

Symptoms often develop over 1-3 days and include:

(pneumococcal pneumonia)

  • shaking chills,
  • high fever,
  • sharp chest pains,
  • cough,
  • rusty looking coughed-up phlegm,
  • feeling generally sick,
  • breathlessness,

(pneumococcal meningitis)

  • severe headache,
  • sensitivity to light,
  • stiff neck,
  • confusion.
