Symptoms of Polycystic ovarian syndrome
The classic polycystic ovarian syndrome features menstrual disturbances or the absence of menstruation (periods), along with obesity and excessive hair growth (hirsutism), often in a male distribution.
Possible rarer symptoms include:
- diabetes,
- high blood pressure,
- heart disease, and
- cancer of the womb lining (endometrial carcinoma).
However, many women do not show these features, and the only symptoms may be menstrual problems or a failure to conceive.
