Diagnosis of Pressure ulcers
Diagnosis can be made on presentation of the visible symptoms. Pressure ulcers are sometimes oval in shape and may look like craters. The centre will be red or raw once the sore has reached Grade 2.
Pressure ulcers have a tendency to become infected and this must be treated immediately as the infection may spread to other parts of the body. Signs of infection include an unpleasant smell coming from the sore and warm or swollen skin around the area.
