Prevention of Respiratory tract infection

The best prevention is to avoid physical contact with obviously infected people.

You pick up an URTI virus by inhaling tiny droplets of saliva and nasal secretion from the coughs and sneezes of someone with an URTI.

Avoiding the infection can be very difficult on a practical level, especially in crowded public places, schools or the workplace.

People who smoke have a greater chance of picking up an URTI or LRTI, so stopping smoking is a good idea.
