Prevention of Root canal treatment
Practising good oral hygiene can prevent tooth decay. This includes brushing your teeth at least twice a day with toothpaste that contains fluoride and flossing or using interdental brushes to clean in between the teeth daily.
Cutting down on the amount of sugary foods and drinks you eat and drink also reduces the number of times your teeth are attacked by acid, therefore reducing the risk of decay.
You should visit your dentist at least once every year, although some people may be advised to visit more frequently. If decay is treated early a filling will usually be sufficient to prevent the decay spreading to the pulp chamber within the tooth.
Your dentist may also advise you to visit a dental hygienist who can remove plaque build-up and calculus from your teeth and show you the best ways to keep your teeth clean and healthy.
