Prevention of Sickle-cell anaemia

There is no way to correct the faulty gene, but the risk of a sickling crisis can be reduced by getting prompt attention for infections, avoiding low-oxygen situations (eg high altitude mountaineering; ballooning) and getting urgent medical help if symptoms of a sickling crisis appear.
