Complications of Sickle-cell anaemia
Complications can occur later in life as a result of accumulated tissue damage from repeated sickling crises. They include:·
- Kidney failure·
- Permanent bone damage·
- Bone infection (osteomyelitis)· Leg ulcers·
- Excess iron deposits in the body·
- Areas of lung damage, which make breathing difficult
