Sinusitis
Sinusitis occurs when the paranasal sinuses (the small, air filled cavities in the facial bones) become inflamed or swollen due to an infection.
Sinusitis is a fairly common condition and can affect people of all ages often after a cold or the flu. Symptoms can include a high temperature, tenderness over the infected area and a mucus discharge from the nose.
Depending on the severity of the infection, often little or no treatment is needed and 70% of sufferers will feel better within a week.
