Symptoms of Sore throat
There is a raw feeling at the back of the throat, discomfort on swallowing, occasional earache, redness and swelling of the throat, enlarged and tender glands (lymph nodes) in the neck, and slight fever.
A very rare complication can lead to severe swelling of the back of the throat (epiglottitis), which may restrict airways and cause breathing difficulties.
A sore throat is usually one of the first symptoms of a common cold or flu.
