Sterilisation
Sterilisation is an operation for men or women that makes them infertile.
A male sterilisation operation is called a vasectomy. It is permanent unless a reversal of the operation is successful. Reversal of sterilisation is sometimes possible but is never guaranteed and is often unsuccessful.
Male sterilisation (vasectomy) is usually the more effective method, with a 1 in 2000 chance of failure. Female sterilisation has a 1 in 200 chance of failure.
