Prevention of Tuberculosis

Tuberculin-negative people should be immunised with BCG. Children who are tuberculin skin test positive without active disease can be given a daily dose of the antibiotic isoniazid for six months or a combination of isoniazid and rifampicin for three months to prevent infection developing into active disease.
