Symptoms of Tuberous sclerosis
The symptoms of TS can vary greatly between different people with the condition. The exact symptoms will depend on where the growths are and how they grow. In many cases, the symptoms are very mild.
Because the growths often form in or around the brain, many common symptoms relate to how the brain works. For example, about 65% of people diagnosed with TS have epileptic seizures at some time in their life.
Other symptoms may include:
- Other brain related problems such as autism, behavioural problems and learning difficulties
- Heart and blood circulation problems
- Marks on the skin or an unusual rash (lesions)
- Kidney problems
