Watering eye

A watering eye is a common sign either:

  • excessive tear production (known as lacrimation) or
  • a blockage in the normal tear drainage channel (known as the lacrimal duct).

The lacrimal ducts run from the inner corners of each eyelid down into the nose. Lacrimal duct obstruction causes tear overflow (epiphora).
