Treatment of Food poisoning El tratamiento de intoxicaciones alimentarias

Most episodes of food poisoning clear up within a few days without seeing a doctor.  In severe cases antibiotics may be prescribed for certain types of bacterial infection.  The recovery period also depends upon the type of infection, age and fitness of the person and whether other medical conditions are present. La mayoría de los episodios de intoxicación alimentaria claro hasta dentro de unos días sin ver un médico. En los casos más graves los antibióticos pueden ser prescritos para ciertos tipos de infección bacteriana. El período de recuperación también depende del tipo de infección, la edad y la aptitud de la persona y si otros condiciones médicas están presentes.

Dehydration due to diarrhoea and vomiting should be treated with rehydration solutions available from pharmacies, or by regularly drinking diluted fruit juices, salted and sugared water, or weak sweet tea. La deshidratación por diarrea y vómitos deben ser tratados con soluciones de rehidratación disponibles en farmacias, o de beber con regularidad los zumos de frutas diluidos, salada y el agua azucarada, o la debilidad de té dulce.

Medical advice should be sought: Se deberá pedir consejo médico:

  • if the illness lasts for more than a few days or general condition worsens, si la enfermedad dura más de unos días o condición general empeora,
  • if there is blood in the stools, si hay sangre en las heces,
