The urinary tract is the name given to the group of internal organs that collect, store and remove urine from the body. El tracto urinario es el nombre dado al grupo de los órganos internos que recoger, almacenar y eliminar orina del cuerpo.
The most common part of the urinary tract to get infection is the bladder. La parte más común del tracto urinario para obtener la infección de la vejiga. Infection here is called cystitis (see separate article). Infección aquí se llama cistitis (ver artículo aparte). Cystitis is more common in women than men. It is thought that this is because the tube leading from the bladder to the outside (known as the urethra) is shorter in women than in men. Cistitis es más común en mujeres que de hombres. Cystitis in men is often associated with infection and inflammation of the prostate gland (prostatitis). A urinary infection that involves the urine collecting system of the kidney is called pyelitis. Una infección urinaria que implica el sistema de recogida de orina de los riñones se llama pyelitis. It has usually spread up the tubes that run from the kidneys to the bladder (the ureters). Ha usualmente se propaga hasta los tubos que van desde los riñones a la vejiga (los uréteres).
When the infection also involves the substance of the kidney, it is called pyelonephritis (see article on Pyelonephritis). Cuando la infección se incluya también la sustancia del riñón, se llama pielonefritis (véase el artículo sobre Pyelonephritis).
